Beyond The Sea by Steven Chera
Steven Chera is a singer and song stylist of 1940-1960's era music -- born, bred, and still living in New York City. He has three released CDs, all produced by Steve Addabbo at Shelter Island Sound and is currently in the studio with a fourth -- his first CD of original material--songs written for him by his director and coach, Shellen Lubin.
The Brooklyn-born Chera spent his early years listening to and studying music legends like Nat King Cole, Tony Bennett, Frank Sinatra, and Bobby Darin. He started to perform at the age of 13, and has never stopped pursuing his music alongside his responsibilities to the family retail business. As he grew, his influences moved into rock and pop (he can still do a mean Elvis impersonation), and his three CDs reflect a range of musical styles from the American Songbook, to Elvis Presley and the Beatles, to Queen and the Doors.
Chera has opened for such acts as The Duprees, The Cleftones, The Elegants, and Johnny Maestro and the Crests, and continues to be inspired by the musical styles of these groups. His current shows -- jazz and standards, a tribute to the sixties, and a tribute to the seventies -- have back-up vocals provided by the talented and beautiful Cynthia Enfield and Penelope Thomas.
As the headliner, Chera has performed at venues across the country and beyond, including: Metropolitan Room, Swing 46, and Don’t Tell Mama in Manhattan, Mr. C's on the Jersey Shore, Spago in Las Vegas, the Hyatt Hotel in Aruba, the Grand Melia in Cancun, and private events. Many of these performances have been with the renowned Bob Kaye Quartet, featuring Ed Caccavalle on drums, Frank Vento on guitar, and Nick Szatmari on bass.
Most recently he performed to a sold-out crowd at the Aaria Lounge of Acqualina Resort in Sunny Isles Beach, Florida.
